Wye Valley Brewery
This family-run business in Hereford has been making beers since 1985 and is dedicated to brewing the best cask conditioned beer possible. Their beers are natural products, made using the finest raw ingredients, sourced locally where possible, with no filtering or pasteurisation in the process at all.
The company produces three multi award-winning core beers and four bottled beers. The Dorothy Goodbody’s Country Ale is a strong ruby ale bursting with rich malt flavours and hop bitterness and was recently listed in the World Top 50 Beers in the International Beer Challenge. The Goodbody’s Golden Ale is lighter in colour with a good hop character. The Butty Bach is a burnished gold premium ale, full-bodied, smooth and satisfying. Perhaps, the star of the range is the Dorothy Goodbody’s Wholesome Stout, a classic stout with intense roasted barley flavours and a dry bitter finish. It was awarded five stars by top beer writer Roger Protz, and is only the second beer to gain his full five-star rating. It also won the CAMRA Champion Bottle-Conditioned Beer of Britain 2008.
