Carbon footprint, carbon miles, sustainable resources...over the past few years, phrases many of us never previously heard are now part of our everyday language.
We all have a responsibility to consider how to limit our impact on the environment. It is one of the most important things we can do for our community!
These are the first steps that we have taken:
- 80% of all the waste our store produces is now collected 6 times a week and taken for recycling.
- Our Pennies for Plastic scheme is aimed at reducing our carrier bag usage by 50%,saving over 750,000 bags
- Smart technology, energy saving electrical equipment is now used as standard on all Warners Budgens sites, reducing our energy consumption by 25%.

- Sourcing local foods and being a local store massively reduces carbon miles. Local suppliers bringing their products direct to our store is a far cry from the miles covered by so much of our food and being able to shop locally removes the need to drive miles to do all your shopping.
Whilst what we are doing for the environment is only our small part, others taking the same small steps cannot but make a difference both locally and globally.
