I would like to thank Hannah for sorting a food delivery to my grandmother at this challenging time, it has been a great help to me and she was really pleased with what you sent her. I have just returned from Warner’s garage in Tewkesbury and just wanted to say thank you to the extremely helpful lady (called Andrea I think) who helped when we were putting air in the tyres of my son’s car. It was freezing cold this afternoon but she still came out to help us, showing us what to do and making sure we had the correct pressure in all of the tyres. I've been a customer of the Moreton branch of Budgens for over 20 years and, following a recent incident there, I felt compelled to get in contact with you. On Friday 24th August, after I'd been through the check out, I had the misfortune to place my bag down too heavily on the floor...I heard a crack & put my hand in to check...I hadn't realised but a bottle of olive oil had been broken and my fingertips were cut on the broken glass which, in turn, left a regrettable mix of olive oil & blood seeping through the fabric bag. I felt mortified! I'm slightly incapacitated and was so grateful to an employee, Christine, who was called as a first aider, that I felt I must get in touch to offer my sincere thanks for her presence of mind, kindness & competence...it greatly alleviated my embarrassment and I'm so grateful for that.

At present we are on holiday at Murcot near to Broadway. On these holidays away from home and getting out and about each day we generally stock up at the closest Waitrose Store en-route, as we did this time at Alcester. A few essential goodies in the self catering cottage for those times when we decide to eat in. And then, we found Budgens tucked away off the Main Street of Broadway. Not knowing where Budgens lay between all of the well known supermarket chains. What a revelation to find an independent store closer to that that of Booths of Ilkley. There will be no need to stop off at a Waitrose on our next trip to this wonderful area. Your store just makes Broadway even better.

May I say how kind and helpful Joyce was today. My car refused to work after I had been in the store. I had left my mobile at home foolishly, so she let me use the phone to SOS my husband in Blockley. I was fortunate that two of your customers knew me and offered to give me a lift home. Joyce arranged for the car not to get a parking ticket, whilst my husband and I tried (in vain) to get the AA. In the end our garage in Alderminster galloped to the rescue and we managed to get the car going! I went to tell Joyce and to thank her for her kindness. What a great member of staff she is!!!

I am writing to let you know that I received fantastic customer service today at your Bidford store. I came to collect my Polish currency from the Post Office which is located within the store. I hadn't been able to collect it before because of being snowed in. As I am going to Poland tomorrow I decided to take the risk and drive in. Unfortunately the Post Office was closed because staff had not been able to get in. The manager went out of his way to ensure that I got my currency. He contacted the post office manager to see if he could get in to the store, and as it would take him about an hour, he offered to deliver the currency to my home after the store closed. However the post office manager talked him through how to access the money and record the transaction. I wanted to let you know how impressed I am by your manager's attitude and professionalism. He was brilliant.

We live over 30 miles from the nearest Warners Budgens store (Moreton-in-Marsh) but are happy to regularly travel this distance for the pleasure of the shopping experience. There is no doubt in our minds that Warners Budgens is THE best food retailer in the UK - great choice, superb displays and friendly knowledgeable staff. Other food retailers could learn a lot from Warners Budgens.

I would just like to say a big 'THANK YOU' to Guy Warner for the excellent standards of the 'Car Wash' at Budgens, Bristol Road, Gloucester, for this on-going quality top car wash at such a great price.

Each and every time, it gives a great feeling to leave the car wash with my Motability 2 year old VW Tiguan shining like a new pin, and stays in pristine condition in adverse weather conditions, and still remains in a gleaming finish with the car wash wax applied after many miles of motoring..

After a recent journey of a 1,000 miles + on mainland Europe, in not the best of weather, the result of the Warner's Budgen's car wash at Bristol Road, Gloucester, prior to leaving for Europe - proved to be money well spent.
Having now returned home, the car is due for another birthday present.

Thank you so much to you and Mick, the Store Manager for allowing Warwickshire Search and Reasuce to do a charity collection outside of the Bidford-On-Avon store on Saturday 16th January. It was a pretty cold day but the locals were so engaging and generous and we raised an amazing £365.08 for our team funds. This money will go towards keeping our team operational and being able to provide a much needed resource to the local community.

We were driving through the area - from Leamington Spa to Devizes - on Boxing day and came to your coffee shop for breakfast about 09.30.

Dear Mr Warner,
We would like to pass on our appreciation of your staff and store which we visited really by default last Saturday afternoon as we could not face the literally miles of queueing traffic on the road to Stow. We had not been in the store for years.
We were wet, cold, hungry and tired and expecting little more than being able to pick up a few basics.
How wrong we were.
First of all please pass on our thanks to the young person on the Cheese/Patisserie counter for their patience, good humour and knowledge especially when faced wit a dithery "older" couple.
I was beginning to be won over.
Our Raspberry tarts were delicious and the pastry perfect and after tasting the cheese on offer went home with Beauvale? It speaks for itself in that it has not ended up at the back of the fridge to be retrieved at some future date
Having come in for a few basics to tide us over we went out with slightly more. Our Cotswold Farmer Chicken and leek pie was packed with contents, the pastry just right . One request though. The detailed list of ingredients was fine but I could see no cooking instructions. I made a guess based on experience but it would be great to be able to get it just right to make the best of the hard work put in.
We were also impressed by the spacious wine and Spirits section, the competitive pricing of eg Charlie Bigham compared with our local "posh" supermarket and the overall layout and cleanliness of your store.
We will be back but next time by intent.
Please pass on our appreciation to the young person on the Cheese section- who must have been dead on her legs at the end of a long day, who was our first impression of the store and the young man on checkout.
We were also impressed by your Newsletter -albeit it was an Autumn edition, and all that you do in and for the Community

Thank you for the notification on carrier bags regarding the charges which will take place on 5 Oct, 2015, and will apply to all stores throughout England. I appreciate that this is not the doing of Warner BUDGENS, but that of the Government , irrespective of ones' views on the reason for doing so.

This will not affect my choice of using Warner BUDGENS, Quedgeley, Gloucester to shop at or visit for car wash etcetera. In fact it is very good of you to notify your customers of this new charge, and that the proceeds will go to charity.

I am writing to thank everybody involved in raising the £475.16 presented to me on 4th September.

The support we receive from local people and organisations means so much to us, not only for the money which we always need, but also for the affirmation of our service.

To give you an idea about the coming year for Kate’s, we estimate that we will provide around 5,000 hours of nursing care for 75 to 80 patients and provide support for their families and carers. This is expected to cost the charity in the region of £275,000 and although we hope to receive a grant from the NHS, most of the money will need to come from donations and the fund raising activities of our committee and local people.

So, as you can see, your donation will help to ensure that our team of dedicated nurses can continue to offer our patients and their families the very best nursing care and support and we are extremely grateful to you for this.

A big thank you to Warner Budgens for once again providing a great prize for the Todenham village summer fete raffle it really is very much appreciated. The Fete itself was exceptionally good this year very well supported and with a good party atmosphere thanks in part to the good weather on the day. The raffle raised over £1100 and the event in total more than £3500 that will go once again to the village hall and St Thomas a Becket church making it a particularly good year.

Despite the bad weather on our fete day we decided to go ahead and despite the rain we made a reasonable profit to distribute to local organisations.
The majority of the funds raised are for the two buildings in our village, namely the village hall and St Paul's church which are used by all.
However, I thought you would like to know that we have sent cheques of £150 each to both the Moreton Cubs and Scouts and £100 to St David's School in Moreton for their orchestra fund.

We are very happy with the service we receive at Budgens. However, we do not like the new style milk containers. We buy the 2 pint size and the new style container is more flimsy, does not fit as easily into the fridge door compartment, and when it is full it does not pour cleanly. Why was the container altered? In our opinion, the old style container was far superior!

Thanks for getting in touch. Unfortunately, Musgrave (the owner of the Budgens brand) have taken the decision to change egg supplier, and we are no longer able to get the Burford Brown eggs. We are really disappointed about this, as they have been really good sellers for us! We have a replacement, called Posh Birds Brown Eggs, which I hope will be as good. This product is available in store now.

Thanks for your feedback about the 'pick your own' eggs - you aren't the first person to say this, so it is something we will be looking at again, and will do our best to improve on.

New to the area, I was certain from its presentation and appearance that your shop had opened only recently. Hi, We have recently spent a couple of days away in the Cotswolds and while we were in Moreton in Marsh we went into the Budgens supermarket. Now we have Budgens in the area in which we live south of London but NOTHING like this Budgens! the shop was beautifully laid out as were the dsplays of goods, the range of products and quality were superb; for instance we bought a pork joint which we ate on returning home that same evening and it was superb. On leaving the shop I remarked to my wife that I had never been in a Budgens like that to which she replied, 'nor me, I thought that I was in a Waitrose!' so praise indeed. is there a way that you can pass these comments on to the shop's manager and staff please. regards Bernard Mills

Yesterday I bought a pack of Elegance Vine Ripened Tomatoes from my local Budgens store in Moreton-in-Marsh and subsequently noted that they were the SuperValu brand. rn rnI have noted in the past that you have occasionally sold other SuperValu items which has interested me as my daughter lives in County Dublin and her local supermarket is one of many SuperValu stores throughout the Irish Republic. rn rnOn reading the label more closely I saw that the country of origin was England, and I am writing to enquire if the tomatoes are really shipped from England to Ireland, packed in Cork and then shipped back to England for sale!rn rnIt would seem that Budgens now has a formal partnership-type arrangement with SuperValu as the label states 'SuperValu from Budgens' which is presumably because they offer good value for money; quite surprising as they are considered to be comparatively expensive in Ireland.rn

It is great that you have noticed our new ‘own label’ produce in our stores. I will give you a little more detail around Warner’s Budgens and SuperValu, and how we work together, which I hope will explain things a little more.

All Budgens stores are independently owned, in our case, the owner is Guy Warner. The agreement he has with Budgens is that he will buy the majority of products through them, with a smaller percentage allowing him to source local products. This business model is also used in Ireland, with SuperValu and Centra stores being independently owned, and the owner buying products from SuperValu. The owner of both the SuperValu and Budgens brands is Musgrave. They recently took the decision to introduce SuperValu as the own label brand throughout all of the stores, meaning increased buying power, and therefore more value for money for our customers.

To answer your question – no, products aren’t grown in England, then sent to Ireland and then sent back here…. Now that the SuperValu brand has been introduced here, products are sourced and packed for Budgens in the UK.

You will begin to notice more advertising in-store about the SuperValu brand – with regards to cost, by switching to the SuperValu own label, you should save on average 20% on leading brands.

Although we live in the far eastern part of Buckinghamshire we are regular visitors to Broadway, we even got married there! We LOVE Budgens, and my husband always makes sure he buys his sandwich and fruit for Monday lunch when we visit at the weekend. He can sit at his desk and dream of the Cotswolds! The store is so clean, the staff so cheerful and helpful, and many of the goods so unusual that it makes shopping a real pleasure. We really appreciate that you concentrate on lovely food and drink, and don't stuff the shop full to overflowing with stepladders, TV's etc. We love it all so much that we joined the Taste Club, and yes we do spend our vouchers! We would love to attend some of the special events, but midweek is out of the question as we do still work. But we are planning to retire to Broadway and then we will visit even more regularly. I was staying at Sutton-under-Brailes, and my friend asked me to go to Moreton, where she shops. I bought 3 bottles of impressive reduced wine, and biscuits. Putting two bottles in the bag, was not very clever, but the bottles crashed on to the floor, to my horror.
Within two minutes, a lady, Geri, appeared, and a young man to clear the wine and glass off the floor. The young man was who looking after me was most courteous, and said, 'don't be upset, it will all be cleared up and I will get more wine!'
I cannot tell you how extremely grateful I was; and still am, and will look a Warner's Budgens store as near to London, as possible!
I have lived in several countries being Irish, but never I encountered such wonderful helpfulness, and kindness from the super staff members I met. Please convey my warmest thanks and good wishes to them on my behalf. It was a lesson to copy in every store. Thank you all once more.

On Friday 10th June, James Johnson who works at your Bidford store was so kind and helpful to me. I had hurt my hand and it was bandaged up and I was unable to drive my car. I came into the store and asked if you still did a home delivery service and if there is a minimum limit I had to spend etc. James said there was, but also asked if I lived in the village, so because I live locally he said he would waiver the charge this time as he could see I could not carry my shopping home.

I have to say that he was very kind and thoughtful. As it happened when I was paying for my shopping a customer behind me offered to take me home so I did not need to use your home delivery services. But I must say James is a credit to your Bidford store.

I've lived in Moreton-in-marsh for several years now and I really value the Budgens supermarket. I am however confused to the stocking of fruit and vegetables. For a supermarket that prides itself on local produce is it really necessary to stock apples from Chile, Argentina and New Zealand? I know now is hardly peak time for UK apples, but you continue to stock varieties from France and Germany, which hardly have a radically different climate. British pears can be bought, but not apples which I find odd.

It's not just apples though, as you were stocking British tomatoes a few weeks back, but now only Dutch and Spanish varieties are available and if you want a whole British cucumber then you have to buy two halves!

I can see a lot of good work has gone into stocking local produce, which I support, but it sends mixed messages when you stock food from about as far as you can possibly travel when other alternatives are much closer. Especially when you consider we are on the doorstep of Evesham Vale.

Otherwise an excellent store that I will continue to support!

As you know we do stock British products where we can throughout the year and endeavor to support local producers wherever possible. I have been in touch with Hayles Fruit Farm who supply all our locally grown apples/pears and their apples will be available in August and pears in September. We are, however, currently selling their strawberries and asparagus.

With regards to the tomatoes and cucumbers, we like to stock class 1 produce, so where the quality is not quite consistent enough or the volume of stock is not available, we have to stock products from elsewhere. I was assured by the Store Manager in Moreton this morning, however, that the tomatoes are now British and this will continue throughout the summer.

I recently visited your Moreton in Marsh store for the first time, twice in the same day,having passed many times previously. The first visit was early in the morning and I have to say that the first thing that struck us was the cleanliness of the store. the second visit was in the early evening when again, the store and the toilets etc were still immaculate!!!
We did a bit of shopping on the second visit, (the first was to buy a coffee - great idea by the way). The choice of stock, the deli, the bread counter etc was really impressive. The level of stock was good, the choice good, the prices excellent.
Never before have we been so impressed with a supermarket, certainly never to the extent where I feel that whoever is at the top of your organisation should be told. We even noticed a member of staff helping a lady to her car with her shopping as it was heavy and awkward.
You have got this store just right, what a pleasure. You and your staff should be very proud of your acheivements. Well done!!!

Me and my wife have been living in Evesham for about 4 months and when passing through Moreton a couple of days ago, thought we would have a look around your store there. I must say the store is very well presented and organised and your collection of local products and offers is extraordinary. Since we have moved to the Cotswolds we have only shopped in our local Tesco, and the difference in custom is huge. Your staff are assets to your business; during our time there, we spoke to 4 members of staff, two had name badges on (Janette and Carl) and a young lady who served us behind the delicatessan with short blonde hair. The girl who served us at the checkout had shoulder length brown hair and was relatively short. All 4 members were very helpful and knew a lot about the products on the shelves. The young lady who served us was very friendly and happy to tell us about Taste Club and the 2 buy 1 get 1 free offers we missed. Me and my wife will definitely be shopping at Warners more often now. Please congratulate yourself and your employees on the excellent job they are doing and we will be seeing you very soon indeed.

To cap off a particularly difficult week... hubby in hospital, general chaos I foolishly locked myself out of my car with all possessions, phone, keys, cash etc in the car on your Moreton in Marsh store car park. I was ably assisted by the wonderful Christine..who not only stopped me having a fully blown breakdown...not without a few tears..but exhausted all possible angles to try and find someone to get me back in. There was no compuncation in helping me and she went above and beyond the call of duty to enable me to get on my way. Many many thanks Christine for your clear thinking, caring assistance which sorted what I thought was an insurmountable problem...if you have an employee of the month I think Christine is definitely a first rate candidate.

Thank you for your comments. The gate you refer to isn't actually on our property so we're unable to remove it. We did make an effort to when we refurbished the site in 2007, but unfortunately to no avail.

A bit late I know, but we'd just like to say a big thank you to all the management and staff at Bidford for the sterling work in keeping the car park clear of snow and ice over the Christmas and New Year period, and also for keeping the store fully stocked during this time. Whenever we came in we could always find what we were looking for (including a few late Christmas presents!), so once again thank you very much for all the hard work - it really is appreciated.

I would like to say how much your customers appreciate all the hard work you and your staff did in the run up to Christmas. Every morning when we arrived to buy our paper your staff were hard at work with shovels and salt to make the paths safe for us. Later in the days, doing normal shopping we found our normal Budgens more like Harrods in the January sales! However, you counter staff coped with their usual cheeriness, they are to be congratulated. Let us hope that some of these extra customers will realise what they are missing in Moreton and become regular shoppers.

Just to say what a wonderful lunch was put on by The Churchill PH in Paxford in conjunction with Budgens. It is always such good value for money and gives funds to the NSPCC so you feel you are enjoying yourself as well as doing a good deed. It was great to see Guy Warner enjoying the occasion together with his staff at Moreton. I use the Taste Club vouchers every month and find them invaluable. Keep up the good work.

Just a quick email to say that I had a wonderful day at the Moreton Country Show yesterday and whilst there visited the two food tents sponsored by Budgens. It was great to meet some of the suppliers of the produce I habitually buy from Budgens stores. A real testiment therefore to Budgens being a truly integral part of the local community. It's great that you sell and celebrate local produce and in turn, people like me feel they are getting fantastic local produce which is easily available. Keep up the good work. I am writing to praise the exceptional customer service that I received from Jack, last Saturday in your Bidford store.He certainly went the extra mile and was extremely helpful and friendly.

This was my first visit since the changes have been made to the Bidford store and I was very impressed with the local produce and with the attractive fruit and veg display on entering the store.

I have eaten 2 of the Cook's frozen meals that I purchased and they were delicious.It would have been so easy to pass them off as my own home cooking! They were nothing like the usual frozen ready meals in supermarkets.

Hi, you used to sell Royal Duchy Ginger cordial, following an e mail I sent in asking for it at Moreton In Marsh. But it has vanished again, could you re stock? Or I see on the Royal Duchy web site they now do a PINK ginger cordial, please please please stock this at Moreton as you hve all the other drink range in Royal Duchy. Please reply and let me know

Just received your Autumn newsletter. Very interesting but nowhere does it tell me where you are or how to find you. I should like to make a suggestion. Perhaps it would be an idea to fit some kind of guttering to the canopy at the front of your Moreton store. Often people get more drenched by the run-off when walking under that than the rain itself when walking across the car park.
